4MLinux is a small, independent, general-purpose Linux distribution with a strong focus on the following four "M" of computing: Maintenance (system rescue Live CD), Multimedia (full support for a huge number of image, audio and video formats), Miniserver (DNS, FTP, HTTP, MySQL, Proxy, SMTP, SSH, and Telnet), and Mystery (meaning a collection of classic Linux games).

23.102 Dec 2017 16:51 minor feature: This is a minor (point) release in the 4MLinux STABLE channel, which comes with the Linux kernel 4.9.61. The 4MLinux Server now includes Apache 2.4.29, MariaDB 10.2.10, and PHP 7.0.25 (see this post for more details). Additionally, some popular programs (Audacity, PeaZip, UNetbootin) have been updated, too. You can update your 4MLinux by executing the "zk update" command in your terminal (fully automatic process).

Additionally, some popular programs (e.g., GNU GRUB, SMTube, VLC) have been updated, too. As a response to user requests, an RDP client (rdesktop 1.8.3) is now available out of the box.

The 4MLinux live CD can now be run (and installed to a hard disk drive) on the following configurations: BIOS with 32 bit CPU, BIOS with 64 bit CPU, UEFI with 32 bit firmware, and UEFI with 64 bit firmware. All these possibilities are handled by the same Linux kernel and initrd. It is even more interesting because 4MLinux is still a 32 bit system (both user-land and kernel). AFAIK 4MLinux is the only GNU Linux offering this kind of functionality. The final (stable) version should be released on the 1st of November 2016.
